Dance: The Coolest Science Experiment
Lately, I’ve been telling my dancers that dance is a lot like a science experiment. Think about it…we’re always adjusting, testing, and discovering. We’re constantly moving things around, changing variables, and seeing what happens when we try something new.
In the studio, our “beaker” might look like shapes, props, or even the way we use musicality. Sometimes you add a new rhythm, sometimes you swap in a different level or direction, and sometimes you completely change the energy just to see what it sparks. That’s the beauty of experimenting..there’s no one right answer.
The important part is to give yourself permission to play. Don’t be afraid to mix things up in the beaker and see what comes out of it. Some ideas might bubble over, some might fizzle, but every single one teaches you something new about yourself and your movement.
Dance is about exploration just as much as it’s about discipline. So, keep experimenting. Keep mixing. Keep creating. You never know what masterpiece your next “experiment” might create!
